ANNUAL LEAVE

EARNING OF ANNUAL LEAVE

Annual leave shall be earned by each full-time employee who works the same schedule as the Central Office.  In the event an employee works eight (8) hours per day, but less than five (5) days per week, the leave shall be prorated on the basis of the number of days in the week divided by five (5).  In the event a teacher works a full twelve (12) months, but not on the same schedule as the Central Office, they shall receive ten (10) annual leave days per year, which must be taken when school is not in session.

The earning of such leave shall be based on the equivalent of years of service to the Catahoula Parish School Board as a full-time, twelve-month employee, and shall be credited at the beginning of each fiscal year in accordance with the following schedule:

CARRYING LEAVE FORWARD

Accrued unused annual leave earned by an employee shall be carried forward to succeeding fiscal years but may not exceed twenty-four (24) days for employees with 0-10 years experience and thirty-six (36) days for those employees with more than ten (10) years of experience (as a full-time, twelve-month employee).  

USE OF ANNUAL LEAVE

Annual leave may be applied for by the employee and may be used only when approved by the Superintendent on forms authorized by the Superintendent.

DEFINITIONS

Daily attendance and leave records must be maintained for all twelve-month employees eligible to accrue annual leave.  These records shall be maintained by the Superintendent.

Annual leave is leave with pay granted an employee for the purpose of rehabilitation, restoration, and maintenance of work efficiency, or transaction of personal affairs.
