SCHOOL DISTRICT ORGANIZATION

 

 

The schools within Catahoula Parish shall be organized into an arrangement that will provide all children in the parish an opportunity to develop their educational potential to the maximum extent possible.  The Board shall require the educational organization of the schools to remain flexible so that new patterns of organization may be implemented as may become necessary, to suit community needs and resources.

 

The Board is authorized to reorganize the schools and to determine and fix the number of grades to be taught at each school in accordance with the dictates of the public and best interests of the students of Catahoula Parish.

 

SCHOOL DISTRICTS

 

The Parish is divided into six consolidated school districts as follows:

 

Consolidated School District No. 1 is composed mostly of old Ward 6 in the Jonesville area.  There are three schools in the town of Jonesville including Jonesville Elementary, Jonesville Junior High, and Block High School.  The total enrollment of these three schools comprises approximately 57.3% of the total Parish enrollment.

 

Consolidated School District No. 2 is composed of the old Wards 1 and 2 in the Sicily Island and Foules area.  There are three schools that serve this area including Sicily Island Elementary, Martin Junior High, and Sicily Island High School; these three schools serve approximately 20.3% of the total Parish enrollment.

 

Consolidated School District No. 5 is composed of old Ward 5 or the Harrisonburg area.  Harrisonburg Elementary and Harrisonburg High School serve this area and Consolidated School District No. 12 or 16.9% of the total Parish enrollment.

 

Consolidated School District No. 9 is composed old Ward 4, or the Manifest area, and is served by Manifest Elementary, Harrisonburg High School, Jonesville Junior High and Block High School.

 

Consolidated School District No. 12 is composed of old Ward 3, or the Enterprise area, and is served by Harrisonburg Elementary and Harrisonburg High School.

 

Consolidated School District No. 25 is composed primarily of old Ward 7, or the Larto area, and is served by Central High School.
